DISTRIBUTION OF LEARNING MATERIALS TO DAYCARE CENTERS TURNS 19, STRONGER, AND MORE DYNAMIC

IT takes service to commemorate service. In a truly Almario fashion, the 19th year of Daycare School Materials Distribution is commemorated by going to each Daycare Centers of 2nd District, Davao Oriental distributing learning materials to more or less 10,000 3 to 4.5 years-old pupils. The month-long activity has started off with the 43 Daycare Centers (DC) of the Governor Generoso followed by the 25 DCs in Banaybanay. Next in line are DCs of Lupon, San Isidro, and lastly, in Mati.

Started in 1998, the 19-year old annual activity is under Almario’s flagship program, MAYOng Edukasyon para sa MAYOng Kaugmaon. More than distributing learning materials for the pupils, the activity aims to check on the situation of each DC concentrating on the basic necessities that should be afforded each building for better and quality daycare learning.

The distribution of learning materials for the Daycare pupils is headed by the 2nd District Congressional Office Chief of Staff, Roger Pabio. Congressman Mayo Z. Almario, who attends thrice a week session at the House of Representatives and committee hearings at the Senate as part of his vital role as Commission on Appointments (CA) member, has given out his firm order that no DC shall be left unvisited and unchecked.
“Get their feedback both positive and negative so we would know which areas to work on and improve. Also don’t forget to take extra care in your travels”, Almario instructs the team.
Also present in the activity are the parents who have been informed about the works of Congressman Almario both in Congress and as CA member as well as recent developments to MAYOng Edukasyon, Mayong Kaugmaon and other programs such as electrification, road concreting, health and medical assistance, and construction of school buildings among others.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONSTRUCT BREAKWATER FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE LUPON PORT

THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) earmarked Fifty Million Pesos for the improvement of the Lupon Port in Poblacion, Lupon, Davao Oriental.

During the recent budget deliberations for its proposed 2018 appropriation before the House of Representatives, the DOTr approved the request of Davao Oriental 2nd District Representative J. Mayo Z. Almario to construct a breakwater to protect the Lupon Port. The structure is necessary for coastal management and shall be erected to reduce the intensity of wave movement and inshore action, particularly during the habagat season.

Congressman Almario, during the budget hearing, emphasized that time was of the essence in this project and pushed the DOTr to complete the breakwater before the monsoon season hits in 2018.

“I want to provide safe berthing for fishing vehicles docking in the Lupon Port,” stated Almario. “The breakwater is important because it affects the safety and livelihoods of a number of Lupon residents. It will benefit fishermen, traders and consumers alike.” Lupon is a fishing town in the province of Davao Oriental known for producing fresh, safe and affordable fishery products.
